“I think one’s art goes as far and as deep as one’s love goes. I see no reason for painting but that. If I have anything to offer, it is my emotional contact with the place where I live and the people I do”
-Andrew Wyeth
Justin’s art education began in Kansas City, Missouri where he attended magnet high school, Paseo Academy for the Fine and Performing Arts. His formative influences early on were the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, and ripples from artists at the Kansas City Art Institute, especially Ken Ferguson and Wilbur Niewald. Justin’s pursuit of painting brought him to Baltimore, Maryland where he studied under Raoul Middleman and James Hennessey. He received a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College Art in 2000. In 2007 he completed an MFA in painting from the University of New Hampshire. Justin now lives with his high school sweetheart and two children in Chelsea, Massachusetts where he keeps a paintings studio and tends a 1/10 acre arboretum.
